Canada Foundation for Innovation: Request for Feedback

Research
Canada Foundation for Innovation

The Canada Foundation for Innovation's 2018 budget allocated significant and ongoing funding for research infrastructure. This presents a tremendous opportunity to consider the future of research infrastructure as a strategic platform to fuel the ambitions of Canada’s research community and strengthen its long-term capacity to think big and innovate.

CFI is inviting institutions and all stakeholders to provide feedback through a number of questions related to trends that are likely to shape how we approach research and state-of-the-art infrastructure over the next 10 to 20 years. Keep this timeframe in mind as you consider your responses.

Questions can be found in the discussion paper Conversation on the future of research and research infrastructure in Canada: role of the Canada Foundation for Innovation  which was released on the CFI website earlier this month.

Please share any additional bold ideas you may have that will help imagine a CFI that looks confidently to the future as it continues to equip the Canadian research community with the tools they need to address complex issues, seize emerging opportunities and engage with the world.

Please submit your comments to conversation@innovation.ca by December 14, 2018. The University of Toronto will be assembling an institutional response. To assist with formulating the UofT response, please copy vp.research@utoronto.ca on your submission to CFI.

Note that early next year, CFI will also be holding a number of town hall meetings across the country to hear from as many people as possible. Town hall schedules will be available in the coming weeks.
