Barrie Rose Research Day in Palliative Medicine

The 2023 annual Barrie Rose Research Day in Palliative Medicine was held on June 8th at the Munk School of Global Affairs, University of Toronto.

This was another extremely successful event, including a timely presentation by keynote speaker Dr. Charlotta Lindvall of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard University. Dr. Lindvall presented on opportunities for the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in palliative care, including for symptom management. The keynote address sparked excitement and a high level of engagement regarding this cutting-edge work. Eleven oral presentations and 47 poster presentations provided an overview of the important and exciting research underway in palliative medicine at U of T.

We would like to congratulate the abstract award winners:

  • Michael Bonares for Best Oral Presentation by a Graduate Student, Postdoctoral Researcher, or Clinical Associate
  • Ronald Chow for Best Oral Presentation by a Medical Student or Resident
  • Javaid Iqbal for Best Poster by a Trainee

We would also like to extend a special thank you to the Rose family and to everyone who contributed to making this event a great success.
